The Tata Harrier that was launched recently has scored a full 5 star rating at the Bharat NCAP crash test. Key points to take note of:

- Scored full points in adult occupant protection (32/32)
- Secured 42/39 in child occupant protection.
- Harrier EV’s BNACP score is similar to XEV 9e
- Comes equipped with six airbags as standard

In the Bharat NCAP test, the top variant Empowered 75 and Empowered 75 AWD was tested but the scores apply to the entire Tata Harrier range. The Harrier EV comes with six airbags (7 on Fearless and Empowered), 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers, ESC, ISOFIX anchors for rear outboard seats and a passenger-side airbag cut-off switch.
In the adult occupant protection, the Tata Harrier scored a full 32 points, becoming only the second SUV to get perfect scores. A close rival of the Tata Harrier, the Mahindra XEV 9e, happens to be the only other SUV to get these scores. That said, another good thing about Tata Harrier safety is both driver and passenger crash test dummies recorded ‘good’ protection for all body parts, which is a rare occurrence at NCAP crash tests.

Again in the Child Occupant Protection Harrier EV secured 45 out of 49 points, which is again exactly the same as the Mahindra XEV 9e. It also secured 24/24 in dynamic tests and 12/12 in the CRS Installation Test and 9/13 in the vehicle assessment test. The Harrier EV gets ISOFIX anchorages on the outboard rear seats but misses out on an integrated child restraint system.
